Day 8 First Day of Teaching

I have already observed class 3/1 for almost a week now from the day I came to the university. I also saw how the student teachers taught and how they were able to interact with the students as well as the activities they did and materials they used.

Today will be the first day I will teach the students. I am very nervous especially because my other co-seateachers told me that we would be evaluated today. I am nervous but a bit confident as well because I was able to taught preschool children back in the Philippines, before I went to the program.

My topic is parts of the body. I chose that topic because I can easily use my body to point out parts of the body as well as the words I can teach the students. Even though they know how to speak in English, they still have a lot of things to learn so it's better is the words I will teach are not long and very complicated.

I was so surprised when I was already teaching, 2 women went inside the room and observed how I teach. I got a bit nervous because I am being graded at the same time, there were eyes watching everything I was doing. Aside from that, I also did not prepare as much materials as I did for my other practice teaching because I am just introducing the lesson on Parts of the Body, I also did not want to overwhelm the students to much on many words.

After the practice teaching I was so happy because I survived it and the students somehow understood my topic and even liked the motivation song I prepared for them.
